Life since high school has been quite an adventure. I double-majored for my Bachelors Degree at Eastern Michigan University: Speech & Drama and Library Science with teacher certification. I met my husband, Dr. Stewart Gordon, in 1970 (and we're still sharing adventures). We spent most of the 70's traveling and living all over the world: United Kingdom, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Brazil, Japan, Thailand, France, Italy, Denmark, Germany, Austria, and many places in between. This is a long story - ask me about it!

I earned my Master of Fine Arts (equiv.) in the UK from the London International Film School, then worked in the UK film industry. Moved to Los Angeles in 1980 and opened a company that provided film production services to foreign film companies coming to shoot in the U.S. - provided wild mustangs for the Italians and expert wind surfers for the Brazilians, etc. I rode the computer-generated animation wave. Then, I wrote a business plan and raised money internationally to open a feature film production company, Electric Shadow Productions. Our most successful film was "Fried Green Tomatoes," which is still earning profits for my investors. I was active in the Hollywood Women's Political Committee (a PAC with an agenda for promotion of women's issues and rights.) I served on the Board of Women in Film.

I returned to Ann Arbor in 2000 to help care for my aging parents. Ask me about how I got interested in public education - I never expected to go in that direction. I now hold a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum. I work with the Ann Arbor Public Schools. I wrote the district's Technology Plan. Then transformed Huron High School's library into a 21st century facility and program. I served on the faculty committee that designed and opened Skyline High School in 2008, a 21st century school with magnet programs, mastery learning and a project-based earning pedagogy. I speak at local, state and international conferences on topics such as the future of public education and school libraries and the integration of technology in teaching and learning. I write articles on these topics. "What DO kids actually need from their education, today?"

I am now the District Chair for Secondary School Library Services in Ann Arbor Public Schools, and Lead for Media & Technology at Skyline High School. I am the adult curator of TEDxYouth@AnnArbor, a youth-organized event licensed by TED. I taught briefly at University of Michigan School of Information and was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship from the State Department.

I hope you will ask me about these adventures and about upcoming new adventures. Follow this URL (a2saraduvall.com) to my personal website, and this URL (stewartgordonhistorian.com) to my husband's.
